The Osun State House of Assembly passed a bill on the State’s Crest,Flag and Anthem after its third reading today.

The bill was passed through a motion moved by the Chief Whip,Hon.Ipoola Binuyo and seconded by Hon.Busola Adeyemi.

The Speaker,Hon.Najeem Salaam, said the bill was the official description of the state and that it would allow the younger generations to attach importance to the culture of the Yorubas and that it poses no threat to the federation of Nigeria.

He noted that Osun won’t be the first state to have a crest or anthem citing Ogun,Lagos and Ekiti states among others.

The Speaker also read a letter during the plenary session of the assembly from Governor Rauf Aregbesola requesting it to approve N17.42billion as supplementary budget for the government.

He said “This supplementary budget will be useful for re-allocation and re-distribution of budgetary provisions of certain heads and sub-heads of the year 2012 budget”.

Aregbesola assured the lawmakers that his administration will live more than expected through its provision of democratic dividends.
