Osinbajo grills suspended DG of NIA, Ayo Oke

The suspended Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ayo Oke, on Monday appeared before the panel set up by President Muhammadu Buhari, to investigate the $43million recovered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in an apartment in Ikoyi, Lagos.

Oke had claimed the cash belonged to his agency.

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo was named head of the committee mandated to investigate the matter.

Abubakar Malami, Attorney-General of the Federation and Babagana Munguno, National Security Adviser, are also members.

They began their meeting on Monday around 1pm.

Over the weekend, Senior Special Assistant on media and Publicity to Osinbajo, Laolu Akande‎, insisted that proceedings of the panel would not be open to the public.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, who was suspended along with Oke is also expected to face the committee
