Asisat Oshoala will be out of action for at least eight weeks with a knee injury.
The Super Falcons striker was replaced in the 53rd minute of Liverpool Ladies’ 2-1 defeat to Notts County last Saturday, after she picked up the knock.
Oshoala will now miss majority of the English club’s remaining games this season, along with England midfielder Fara Williams.
She will also miss the Falcons’ second round, second leg Olympic Games qualifier against Equatorial Guinea on August 2.
The reigning African Women’s Footballer of the Year, joined the team in January and has scored three goals in her seven English Women Super League appearances.
