Congratulatory messages have continued to come the way of the Vice Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Yemi Osinbajo.
The latest being those of Edo Governor, Adams Oshiomhole and former governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, who applauded the choice of Osinbajo as the running mate to General Muhammadu Buhari in the upcoming presidential election.
Oshiomhole, in a press statement issued by the state Commissioner of Information and Orientation, Lious Odion in Benin City, said Professor Osinbajo is a man of deep intellect with a heart for social justice.
Oshiomohle said: “I have followed Osinbajo’s remarkable legal career, particularly his stint as two-term Lagos Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General. He impressed me even further as a member of the legal team that argued my case at the court after PDP stole my mandate in the 2007 governorship election in Edo.
“I therefore have no doubt that he would continue in that illustrious tradition by working together with General Buhari to actualize the dream that our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), represents, for the benefit of our dear country held down by PDP’s misrule of the last sixteen years.”
Fayemi, in a release signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode in Lagos stated that Osinbajo’s choice has further reiterated the fact that APC is determined to effect the change which Nigerians have for long clamoured for.
He described Osinbajo as a vice presidential candidate who is a renowned teacher, legal expert, administrator and a reform-minded technocrat, who embodies the virtues of honesty, integrity, selflessness and dedication to the overall good of the society.
“Every time pundits come up with their doomsday predictions of APC’s imminent collapse, APC comes out stronger right from its founding. The choice of Osinbajo is also leaving us much stronger for the task ahead. I commend General Buhari and other party leaders for arriving at a choice that is bound to strengthen our ticket”, Fayemi said.
Also, Pastors Council of Northern Nigeria cheered the choice of Osinbajo as running-mate to General Muhammadu Buhari.
While speaking to journalists in Kaduna, the convener of the council, Pastor Bulus Yahaya called on Nigerians to insist on good leadership emerging in the 2015 general elections.
The cleric said Osinbajo posses leadership qualities to be Buhari’s second in command.
They all agreed that Osinbajo’s choice is a step in the right direction for Nigeria in view of his experience in public and private sectors and for the fact that he is a pastor of Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
