Godwin Obaseki, the man believed to be favoured by Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo state, has picked the governorship nomination and expression of interest forms.

The forms were obtained at APC party national secretariat in Abuja on his behalf by members of the Edo State National Assembly Caucus, led by the Senate Deputy Chief Whip and Senator Representing Edo North Senatorial District, Senator Francis Alimikhena.

Senator Alimikhena said “artisans, Edo National Assembly caucus and other supporters contributed the money to buy the APC forms because Obaseki is the man to carry on from where Comrade Oshiomhole will stop.”

The Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives and a former Secretary to State Government (SSG), Rep Parry Iriase, said “Obaseki is an embodiment of ideas that will take Edo from the current level to the next level.

“Obaseki is the midwife of the blueprint to which Comrade Oshiomhole donated and which gives him the extreme courage to make Edo what it is today.

“If you are to mention two states that can pay salaries, Edo state is one and if you know what Obaseki wants in terms of industrialisation, Obaseki is the one who has the blueprint to take Edo State away from civil service state to an industrialised one.”

Senator Alimikhena was accompanied by Reps Philip Shuiabu and Peter Akpatason.

The seven governorship aspirants, who have obtained the APC are the incumbent deputy governor of Edo state, Dr. Pius Odubu, Mr Obaseki, Barr. Kenneth Imansuangbon, major general Charles Airhiavbere (rtd),Chris Osa Ogiemwonyi, Blessing Agbomehere, and Mrs. Tina Agbarha.

The APC governorship primary election holds on the 18th of June in Benin City, while the gubernatorial election will be conducted on September 10, 2016.
