The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lambasted Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State for calling for the arrest of its governorship candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
Oshiomhole, while speaking at the APC campaign flag-off for Edo North at Auchi, reportedly said, “the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) should do its job and make the PDP candidate face the music for collecting N700 million of the Dasuki Arms fund.”
Reacting, spokesman of the PDP national caretaker committee, Prince Dayo Adeyeye said Oshiomhole’s statement confirmed the fear that the anti-corruption war of President Muhammadu was far from neutral.
“The fight against corruption is nothing but a partisan political agenda to intimidate, suppress and silence the PDP,” he said.
“PDP will not tolerate any harassment, intimidation and oppression of its candidate in the Edo governorship election.
“The All Progressives Congress (APC) government at both state and federal levels must play by the rules”, he added.
The statement further accused the PDP of distablizing the electoral process, saying “all the great works done by the PDP administration to ensure the sanctity of the ballot box have been virtually destroyed by the APC administration.”
