A former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godsday Orubebe, who had tried to stop the collation of results for the March 28 election, has alleged that 99 per cent of Nigerians, particularly those in government, are sycophants.
He stated this yesterday while lampooning the Edo State governor, Adams Oshiomhole, over his relentless criticism of the administration of former President, Goodluck Jonathan, who he described as a great leader.
He alleged that Oshiomhole was a major sycophant during the immediate-past administration of Goodluck Jonathan, where he served as the Chief Adviser on Economic and Labour Matters and particularly on Subsidy Removal, and regretted that human memory was short.
Describing the Governor as an ingrate, Orubebe stressed that history had proved Edo State-born Captain Hosa right in his earlier warning to Jonathan that Nigerians would ultimately hold him responsible for whatever damage Oshiomhole inflicted on the nation.
He called on President Muhammadu Buhari to watch out for the likes of the Edo State governor, whom he said would choke him with adulation just to allow him access to the nation’s cake.
“It is unfortunate that Oshomhole, who should talk like a governor, is today, biting the fingers that fed him and seems to have forgotten in a hurry that he once cried around the former president for assistance and recognition,” Orubebe said.
Speaking about the sour relationship between Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike and his predecessor, Chibuike Amaechi, the former Minister described Amaechi as a good man as regards his unalloyed support to former President Jonathan during the 2011 general elections.
He however advised the duo to sheathe their swords and work together to restore Rivers State to its lost glory.
