Abia State Governor, Chief Theodore Orji, has expressed happiness with the quality and progress of work done so far at the International Conference Centre and the Shoprite in Umuahia North Local Government Area. He also expressed satisfaction over the quality of work done at the Old Umuahia erosion site in Umuahia South Local Government Area.
Answering questions from newsmen after visiting the projects to ascertain the progress of work, Governor Orji said that the projects were dear to him.
According to him, the projects when completed will stand the test of time and serve the people of the state, adding that the Shoprite will boost commerce in the state.
Governor Orji said he was happy that the erosion site at Old Umuahia has been brought under check as many surrounding houses would have been eaten up if left unattended to, pointing out that the government is working on the road.
He stated that some of the legacy projects already completed will be commissioned before he leaves office, while others that have reached advanced stages of completion will be completed and commissioned by the incoming government.
He said that for him, the most important thing is starting and completing a project and not necessarily commissioning it. He maintained that his government has signed an MOU with reputable companies that will manage the buildings to ensure that they last.
