Enugu Rangers defender, Kalu Orji, has expressed optimism that the club will end their long wait for a first Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title this season.

The Flying Antelopes last won the title in 1984.

Ever since that time, Enyimba and Kano Pillars have dominated the domestic season.

Rangers currently sit in first place in the NPFL, after three wins and one draw from their opening five matches.

“I know it is too early to start talking about winning the title, but we strongly believe we can do it this year,” the Nigeria international told Completesportsnigeria.com.

“We have played well so far in all our matches this season and everyone is looking to fight on till the end of the season.

“Winning the league is not an easy task, but I believe we have a squad strong enough to win it.

“It will be great to write our names in history by becoming the first side to win it after a long, long time.”
