The Secretary to the Ogun State Government, Mr Taiwo Adeoluwa has said the condemnations against the state government regarding recent sanctions on some education workers by the Civil Service Commission were sponsored by “opposition elements”.
A statement he signed on Sunday said “while a few of the critics were genuine, having commented based on the limited information available to them at the time, the vast majority were sponsored by frustrated politicians who lost elections woefully and were now desperate to get into public reckoning through the back door.”
“However, the cynical opposition have now chosen this period to orchestrate a campaign of calumny not only against the governor but his family as well. The most unconscionable of the lies being peddled by these opposition elements is that the wife of the governor was arrested in London.
”Nothing could be further from the truth. Mrs Olufunso Amosun is a paragon of decency and an example of all that is noble. These false allegations are totally condemnable. The quest for power need not descend to this level of infamy,” Adeoluwa said.
It noted that government would not be deterred by the name-calling and malicious lies, and advised the public to be wary of ”mischief makers and failed politicians now in the borrowed regalia of public defenders and their media hawks”.
