Operation Crocodile Smile II: Bayelsa Governor tasks army on professionalism

The Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson has tasked the Nigerian Army on professionalism.

The governor yesterday urged the army to be circumspect in its conduct of Operation Crocodile Smile II exercise, in the state.

Dickson said it was by so doing that the operation would enjoy the support of the government and people of the state.

He, however, said he was in support of the operation and called on the people of the state to cooperate with the military in that regard.

The exercise, according to a press statement signed by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Francis Ottah Agbo, will commence on Wednesday, October 11 and will end on Saturday, October 28, across the South-West and South-South states.

The governor said the operation will protect law-abiding citizens, rid Bayelsa of sea pirates and criminal elements as well as safeguard the waterways.

While expressing the hope that the military will be in the state to provide additional security and protect innocent citizens, Governor Dickson called on Bayelsa people not to panic.

He said, “Bayelsa people do not have to panic, but cooperate with the military on Operation Crocodile Smile II.“

He added, “I have been de-briefed and they have my support to safeguard the waterways, flush out criminality and sea pirates from Bayelsa State. But in doing so, the military must act professionally.”
