OPC warns Boko Haram on bombings

The Coordinator, Oodua People’s Congress, Mr. Gani Adams, has warned the fundamentalist Islamic sect, Boko Haram, never to attack any place, establishment or investment in the South-West.

He told journalists during the Oya Festival in Ira, Kwara State on Saturday, that the OPC would defend Yorubaland and Yoruba interests if the sect makes good its threat to bomb party offices and buildings with political posters across the country.

But Adams said the OPC would regard the sect as a great enemy if it attacked Yorubaland.

Adams added, “We have sent warnings to them many times that they must not attack Yorubaland. We do not have anything to deny them. If they have any issue with the Federal Government, a Yoruba man is not in power now. So, I do not see them coming to Yorubaland. And if they come to Yorubaland, it will not be a very good thing to them.

“Our duty is to protect the interest of the Yoruba people; to defend the interest of Yorubaland. OPC has never gone to the Northern state to attack them.

“They do not have any record that our organisation has done any negative thing in Kaduna, Jos or Bauchi states. So, why should they come and attack our region?

“We believe in the secularity of our regions. We believe that there is a freedom of religion. We do not have religious crisis in the South-West. You will see muslims and Christians intermarry and have very good relationship.”
