The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja 11 and Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji Aje Ogunguniso 1 have called on the government at both federal and state levels to take advantage of the opportunities provided by trainings on the installations and use of alternative fuel system (AFS) for vehicles.
The monarchs in their separate remarks at the unveiling of the AFS agreed that aside from the environmental and economic benefits the initiative provided, adopting the training would go a long way in addressing the challenges of unemployment in the country.
They spoke at an event where petrol engine vehicles installed with the AFS were presented and displayed to the members of the public at the Oyo State headquarters office of the Nigerian Automobile Technicians Association (NATA), Olomi-Academy Ibadan.
The event, a collaborative effort between NATA Southwest zone and THLD Logistics was attended by royal fathers, government officials, stakeholders in the transportation sector, private companies, representatives of state chapters of NATA from across the country.
AFS is a new system introduced into the Nigerian automobile market where vehicles running on either petrol or diesel engine are installed with an alternative fuelling system running on either Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) or Comfortable Natural Gas (CNG).
Represented at the event by the Agboolu of Agbaje Ife, Oba Adekunle Adebowale and the Elerefe of Erefe Ife, Oba Fayemi Johnson, the Ooni who commended the THLD logistics for facilitating the training where local technicians were empowered on how to install the AFS said it was important for government to key into the initiative as a way of empowerment
“It is important government at all levels see this as an opportunity to engage some willing youths through this training because this initiative would soon be adopted by many Nigerians.
“It will definitely create more jobs for our auto technicians and make them relevant to modern trends”, he said.
The Olubadan, who spoke through the Agbaakin Olubadan, Chief Lekan Alabi, said it was laudable that the initiative was introduced in Ibadan, adding that it would no doubt add relevance to the auto technicians who might have been loosing relevance due to modern trends.
Comrade Dele Odewale and Alhaji Lamidi Adewale, NATA National Vice President (South West) and Oyo State Chairman, respectively, thanked THLD for affording five members drawn from five states of the SW the opportunity to be trained on the installation of the AFS.
He assured that the new skills which would later be transferred to other members in the state would change the face of the jobs.
