After spending weeks at Ilofi, Iremo, which he left yesterday evening, the Ooni-elect, Prince Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi is set to be installed as the new Ooni today, Monday, in a coronation that will be carried out behind closed doors.
It would be recalled that Prince Ogunwusi had on October 30 began the traditional rites at Ilofi, a place of preparation for new Ooni, and was expected to have left on November 19, after spending 21 days.
However, Vanguard gathered that a few more days were added to ensure that all the rites were completed before the coronation would take place.
Reporters learnt from a palace source that the new Ooni will be installed in Ile Oodua, stressing that the new monarch will be entering the palace for the first time as an Oba today.
“In line with the demand of Ile Ife customs and traditions, his coronation will hold behind closed doors. Only the Isoros and Ife chiefs will be involved but I can confirm that it will be done inside the palace,” he said.
Former Special Adviser to the Osun State Governor on Youth and Sports, Mr. Biyi Odunlade, confirmed to newsmen that the new Ooni will be crowned today inside Ile Oodua but stressed that the event will not be open to the public.
