Henry Onyekuru may end up signing for West Ham, as the Premier League club has moved to the head of the queue to sign the Nigerian from Belgium team, KAS Eupen.

The 20-year-old striker is due to fly to England June 12, for talks with interested clubs.

It is understood that seven Premier League sides including Arsenal, West Ham and Swansea City are keen on the player, who scored 25 goals in all competitions last season.

Last month, Sky reported that Arsenal were holding talks to sign Onyekuru with the player’s representatives telling Sky Sports he wanted to play in England. But now, they are claiming that the Hammers are in pole position for the player.

English clubs can trigger the release clause in Onyekuru’s contract by paying £7.85m and wages of £35,000 a week, while clubs abroad can sign him for £6.85m.

Onyekuru is currently with the Super Eagles squad, preparing for Saturday’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa.
