Onnoghen: What Buhari’s suspension of CJN means – Dele Momodu

Media Mogul, Dele Momodu has described the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen as “a war against opposition.”

Recall that Buhari had on Friday suspended Onnoghen following an interim order by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) in favour of the Federal Government.

Mr. Ibrahim Tanko Muhammed was appointed as the acting CJN in his place.

Explaining his reason, the President said he suspended Onnoghen, following an order from the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, asking him to wield the big stick.

In a statement sent to DAILY POST, Buhari said the order demanded that the CJN be suspended pending the determination of his ongoing trial at the tribunal.

But, reacting to development, Dele Momodu on Twitter said the ‘noise on the war against corruption should be changed to ‘war against opposition.’

He said, “So every allegation should lead to resignation? What a smart way of eliminating perceived enemies; one of the reasons I respect SARAKI who defended himself like a man and shamed his tormentors.

“Walahi, the noise about war against corruption should be changed urgently to war against opposition.

“And protection of friends of ruling saints.”
