The Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Jigawa state chapter, has shunned the directive of the national body to boycott all court proceedings over the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen.

State chairman of the NBA, Barrister Bashir Hussaini, declared the branch’s stand while ‎addressing newsmen at the federal high court, Dutse.

He explained that NBA Dutse branch expresses their deep concern on the suspension ‎of Chief Justice of Nigeria but that the branch could not embark on any strike or boycott court proceedings.

“The branch will not embark on any strike or boycott of court proceeding. So, we are always in support to fight corruption at any level,” he said.

The NBA chairman described the situation as trying time for the legal profession in Nigeria‎, adding that nobody is above the law.

He called on warring parties to seek redress through legal means by appealing against the order of the tribunal for the suspension of the CJN instead of embarking on court-boycott that would be detrimental to the parties.
