A diplomat and former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra, in 2017, Oseloka Obaze has condemned the charges leveled against the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen.
Oseloka said the intent for the charges were not genuine, especially considering the timing, with just weeks to the general elections.
In a press statement he personally signed, Oseloka said, “Timing of the charges filed by the Code of Conduct Bureau, against the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen, presents a very curious twist against the backdrop of the forthcoming elections.
“The timing portends an attempt to muzzle and decapitate the judiciary. While no person is above the rule of law, the charges implicitly amount to a hostile inquiry.
“Nigerians must resist rule of law measures foisted by subterfuge and opaque executive fiats.”
