Only APGA can integrate South-East into national politics – BoT member

A member of the Board of Trustees, BoT, of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Ahamdi Nweke on Friday stated that there was no faction in the state chapter of the party, stressing that APGA was now poised to take over governance of the state in the next election.

Nweke said the party was now stronger more than ever as it has continued to receive large number of members of other political parties defecting into the fold.

Addressing newsmen in a press conference in Umuahia, the Abia state capital, Nweke explained that the disagreement that was in the state chapter of the party arose because some members of the party insisted that APGA must encourage well-meaning people of Abia to join the party.

The BoT member said, “There is no faction whatsoever in APGA Abia state chapter. The state party is stronger today than ever.

“Our party has continued to receive mass defection of members from other political parties into fold. The disagreement which is being mistaken or perceived as faction arose because some party members insist that the party must encourage well meaning Abians to join the party and be able to put themselves forwards to contest elections subjects to the outcome of the primary elections in line with APGA constitution and provisions of the electoral Act”.

Nweke insisted that APGA was the only party that can ensure the integration of Abia and the South-East zone into national politics, stressing that APGA was best placed to articulate and defend the interest of Ndigbo in the country.

The APGA chieftain called on people of the state to ignore the flames of discord being fanned by opposition in the state that the party is divided, urging the Abia electorates to obtain their permanent voter cards to enable them decides who will govern the state come 2019.

“I urge Abians to ignore the flames of discord being fanned mainly by a scared opposition in the state that APGA is divided in Abia. And also everyone should go out and get their PVC to enable us enthrone good governance in the state,” he urged.
