Onitsha violent clash: We were not involved – MASSOB

The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has disowned some pro-Biafra agitators who clashed with security agents in Onitsha, Anambra State.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Comrade Samuel Edeson, National Director of Information, MASSOB, said based on erroneous reports, he needed to make clarification on the “unfortunate and ugly incident that involved security agents and group of violent boys that claimed to be members of MASSOB which incidentally led to arrest of some.”

He stated that “those group of persons camped at Okpoko popularly known as Zone Nine are not MASSOB members but members of Ralph Uwazuruike led Biafra Independent Movement (BIM).

“The Reformed MASSOB under the leadership of our leader, Comrade Uchenna Madu since 30th Nov, 2015 when Uwazuruike was expelled have stopped operating from camps or uncompleted buildings; also we don’t condole or involve in criminalities.

“We also believe in non violence and peaceful approach towards Biafra actualization.

“Ralph Uwazuruike and his hypnotized coordinators of Biafra Independent Movement (BIM) should be held responsible for the atrocities, criminalities and terrorising of Okpoko residents by the so-called zone 9 of Biafra Independent Movement (BIM).

“MASSOB has one leader, Comrade Uchenna Madu with our headquarters in Enugu state and will continue to remain non violence and cannot involve ourselves in violent manner.

“We also wish to inform the pressmen that there is nothing like BIM- MASSOB under Ralph Uwazuruike; nobody can be a member of BIM and MASSOB at the same time; it’s either one belongs to BIM or MASSOB. You can’t be a member of PDP and APC at the same time.

“BIM members claiming to be MASSOB members is part of Ralph Uwazuruike’s deceit and confusion among his brainwashed followers.

“We can never allow our name to be soiled or drowned with Ralph Uwazuruike.

“Our leader, Comrade Uchenna Madu has advised our members in Onitsha to go about their normal businesses as nobody will harass them.”
