One million jobs will be created by FG in 2016 – Osinbajo


The Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo has revealed that the Federal Government will create no fewer than 1 million direct jobs in 2016.

Osinbajo in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande on Thursday in Abuja also stated that another one million poor Nigerians would benefit from the first phase of the Conditional Cash Transfer Scheme.

The statement noted that Osinbajo made the remark during an interactive session with a cross section of Nigerian Community in Burkina Faso.

The VP was in Burkina Faso to represent President Muhammadu Buhari during the inauguration of the newly elected President of the country, Roch Marc Christian Kabore.

Osinbajo stated that an estimated 500,000 non-graduate unemployed people would be trained as artisans by the Federal Government.

He further disclosed that the Conditional Cash transfer Scheme was meant to utilise the thrift system to grant loans to market women to enable them improve their businesses.

The VP assured the Nigerian community in Burkina Faso that the Buhari’s anti-graft war was a continuous one, stressing that those involved in corruption would not only be prosecuted but also recover all the loot that had been traced to them.

He said, “We will go after Nigeria’s fund wherever it is found and we will recover it,” adding that “our country is bound for greatness.”
