Ten communities have been sacked by bandits at Mada town in the Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Friday.
NAN reports that that one person was killed during the incident, which took place in the early hours of Friday.
No fewer than 200 bandits were said to have descended on the communities, rustling cows and other animals and forcing villagers to flee.
The affected villages were given as: Fura Girke, Majira, Kanawa, Yargeba, Takoka, Bargaja, Bundungel, Bantsa, Unguwar Matanda and Makera.
Speaking with reporters at Mada after visiting the displaced people, the Deputy Governor of Zamfara, Ibrahim Wakkala, appealed to the federal government to come to their rescue.
Wakkala said that a committee had been set up by the state government to ascertain the level of damage caused by the bandits.
