One middle-aged man was killed as a gang of armed bandits numbering about ten on Tuesday raided the popular Wapa foreign exchange market snatching an undisclosed amount of money. The attacked came barely 24 hours after gunmen shot dead a young barber in Kawo area of Kano, and leaving two others injured.
The operation which reportedly lasted for about thirty minutes left some operators injured. The robbers were said to have carted away money in local and foreign currencies.
Sources say the robbers pretended as if they were customers when they entered the premises of one of the operators, Alhaji Baba Hassan Bureau de change house at Layin Yan Goro of Wapa quarters.
