As part of moves to end the hostilities between Fulani herdsmen and Benue communities, the One Idoma Initiative has called on the federal government to set up a committee that will look into the immediate and remote causes of the crisis.
Addressing a joint news conference in Abuja at the end of a town hall meeting held to resolve the Agatu crisis, leaders of the Idoma and the cattle breeders stressed the need for both parties to sheath their sword in order to enthrone peace in the area.
The conveners of One Idoma Initiative and the National President of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association called on the relevant authorities to draw up a road map to commence the immediate reconstruction, rehabilitation and re-integration of the internally displaced persons from Agatu and the compensation of Fulanis, who lost their cattle during the crisis.
Speaking at the event, leader of One Idoma Initiative, Bar. Paul Edeh stated that dialogue remained the only way forward.
