Following an alleged clash between two rival cult groups at the Agaka area of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, a man, simply identified as Muyi, has been reported dead while others sustained injuries.
A source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, told The Punch that the mayhem which was mainly a supremacy battle, was between members of the rival cults in Ita-Kure/Oja-Iya and another group in Agaka.
While the source said the victim died on the spot, some people from the area, however, said Muyi was rushed to a nearby hospital.
He said, “Suddenly, we saw some hoodlums armed with guns, machetes and other weapons using them on one another.
“There were also sporadic gunshots, and it was at that time that Muyi came out of his house. As soon as he stepped out, strayed bullets hit and killed him. He has been buried.”
The deceased who hailed from Agaka, was reportedly coming out of his house when strayed bullets hit him.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Kwara State Command, Mr. Ajayi Okasanmi said, as at press time, that he was yet to be briefed on the clash but confirmed that there had been a case of the death of one Muyi, following an alleged clash.
