The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the State Assembly election in Ilaje local government area of Ondo State as inconclusive following irregularities that marred the poll.
Reports say materials meant for Ilene local government and two other constituencies were reportedly hijacked by suspected political thugs loyal to a certain political party.
The State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mr.Segun Agbaje who disclosed this while addressing reporters at the INEC office in Akure, the State Capital, said only the national body of INEC could give a directive on what to do concerning the election in the councils.
However, with the results released so far, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has made a resounding victory over its major opponent, the All Progressives Congress (APC) by clinching 19 State Assembly seats, while, APC got only five seats.
PDP won in Owo constituency I, Ose, Akure constituency I, Akoko North West constituency II, Akoko South East, Akoko North East, Idanre, Ifedore, Ondo West I and II, Ondo West, Odigbo I and II, Idanre, Akure North, Ese-Odo, and Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo.
APC won the Akure South constituency II, Owo constituency II, Akoko South West I and II, and Akoko North West constituency I.
According to the results released by Returning Officers of the various local governments in Idanre, PDP polled 12,745, APC 6,245, while SDP polled 4,292.
In Akure South Constituency II, APC polled 11730 PDP 10926 SDP 863 . In Akure South constituency I, APC 13037 PDP 13522 SDP 1086. Owo constituency I, PDP, 8,456, APC, 6474. Owo II, APC, 10,247, PDP, 9733. Akoko South West Constituency I, APC 8,959 PDP 7,949 Constituency II APC 7790, PDP 6669.
