Ondo Poll: I’m still in the race – Olabimtan

A former Speaker of Ondo State House of Assembly and All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Aspirant, Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan has refuted a newspaper report that he had dropped his ambition to support the aspiration of Senator Ajayi Borofice.

Borofice currently represents Ondo North Senatorial District in the National Assembly. He hails from Oka-Akoko while Olabimtan hails from Supare Akoko.

In a statement personally signed by him and made available to newsmen in Akure on Friday, Olabimtan boasted that he posseses all it takes to win the governorship contest.

Describing the news of his stepping aside as the hand work of “desperadoes”, the former Commissioner representing Ondo, Edo and Kogi States in the Federal Civil Service Commission declared himself as a candidate to beat in the fast approaching primaries.

“By the grace of the Almighty God and the support of the delegates of our party, All Progressive Congress I’m in the race to win.

“I am forced to respond again because of the countless calls and messages from far and near to confirm if what was published is true or false otherwise l wouldn’t have bothered myself.

“This particular news platform is becoming notorious for spreading falsehood as far as Ondo state politics is concerned.

“I am using this medium to inform and assure all my supporters that l am in the race till the end and by God’s grace victory will be ours.

“My advise to the people sponsoring these falsehood and propaganda is to desist because they are doing themselves more harm than good. People now see them as fake, liars & cheats”, he stressed.
