The police in Ondo State on Thursday paraded two suspects, Idowu Olorunfemi and Olopade Waheed for their alleged involvement in the kidnap of a 70-year-old woman identified as Victoria Jimba on August 30, 2017.
Madam Jimba was allegedly abducted by a gang of kidnappers in Igbotako, Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State while going to church very early in the morning.
The Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Police command, Mr Femi Joseph revealed that the elderly woman was released by her abductors a few days after, adding that he was not aware if ransom was paid by her family.
While parading the suspects in Akure, the PPRO said the other members of the gang were yet to be arrested, assuring that police were on their trail.
Joseph said, “After the report of the kidnap of the 70-year-old woman was made to us, we quickly commenced action and after a discreet investigation and intelligence gathering, the suspects were arrested.’’
“The phone they used to demand the ransom was also recovered from them. We are making frantic efforts to arrest the fleeing members of the gang,’’ he added.
