Ondo PDP Excos approach court as Mimiko defects to PDP


The Ondo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) today approached a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, seeking to restrain the National Working Committee, (NWC) of the party from dissolving the existing party structures in the state.

The application was brought through an originating summon applied to by the State Working Committee (SWC).

Mimiko today, at the Presidential Villa in abuja formally dumped the ruling Labour Party, (LP) and returned to PDP, his former party he abandoned in 2006 to pursue his governorship ambition under LP platform.

After the April 14, 2007 governorship election was declared in favour of PDP and the late Olusegun Agagu by the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC), Mimiko approached the election tribunal and after 22 months legal fire work, Agagu was sent out of power on February 23, 2009 through the Court of Appeal, Benin-city, Edo State.

Already, the NWC and her privies have been served with the court summons.

Also served is the Senate President, who is the Chairman, Southwest Reconciliation Committee.

The party maintained that Mimiko should keep the structure of his government while the party structure remains.

However, PDP welcomed him back to his former party.
