The Ondo state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has begun an intensive reconciliation within the party ahead of the next month’s presidential election.
This, the party said was to bring about victory for it in the forthcoming general elections.
The reconciliation exercise according to findings by DAILY POST was in line with the directives given by President Goodluck Jonathan when he visited the state for the Presidential campaign of the PDP.
It was learnt that during the President’s visit, the two factions of the party in the state met at the Government House, Alagbaka where they agreed to work together for the victory of President Jonathan in Ondo state.
It was also gathered that the President held a closed door meeting with the state Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, Governorship candidate of the party in the state in 2012, Chief Olusola Oke and a leader of the party, Chief Jimoh Ibrahim.
It was learnt that the three leaders of the party assured President Jonathan that they would deliver the state for the PDP during the coming Presidential election.
To this end, a reconciliation committee was set up by the party and the committee was said to have met with all the interest groups within the party.
It was gathered that Governor Mimiko has also agreed to ensure that peace reigns within the party in the state, promising to carry all the stakeholders and leaders along in the affairs of the PDD.
The reconciliation has however, started yielding positive results as members of the old and new PDP have been moving round the state to solicit support of the people of the state ahead of the next general elections.
A competent source within the party hinted that the leadership of the party has commenced grassroots campaign for the victory of President Jonathan in the forthcoming election in the state.
