A prominent lawyer in Ondo town, Felix Akinmade, has reportedly slumped and died in his house over the weekend.
However,as at press time,information on the immediate cause of the death remained sketchy.
It was reliably gathered that the deceased’s chamber was at Enuowa Street, in the ancient town, but was said to be in his house located at Jipadola Street, Itamope area, along Ondo/Ore in Ondo town.
He was hale and healthy, on the fateful day, when one of his clients, Vincent Akinseye, came on a visit.
Sources said an argument ensued between the late legal luminary and the client, the development which was said to have resulted into friction.
The late Akinmade was said to have slumped, while the client allegedly escaped from the scene of the incident with the telephone and the diary of the late lawyer.
Few minutes later, an alarm was said to have raised by one of his neigbours who later rushed him to the Ondo Trauma Center, where he was later confirmed dead by doctors.
The matter was later reported at Enuowa Divisional Police Station in Ondo town,by the deceased family.
After thorough investigation, the client was later arrested by the police and transferred to the homicide section at the Ondo State Police Command in Akure.
The Chairman, Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) in Ondo town, Kunle Adetowubo, described the death of the late legal icon as painful.
He said:”justice must be done, after thorough investigation, we are ready to give legal backing to the family, we will not allow the matter to be swept under the carpet”
“We have called for the pathology doctor to conduct post-mortem on his remains, so we are ready to get to the root of the matter,because the statement of the client was contradictory”
The chamber of the late Akinmade was deserted when our correspondent visited the place.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the station, Mr Emmanuel Adesina, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) was also said to have gone out of the station for an official assignment.
A senior police officer at the station, who spoke in confidence confirmed the incident, adding that the report and the suspect have been transferred to the homicide section in Akure, the state capital for further investigations.
