Ondo lawmakers pass 2016 Budget


Barely three hours after the purported impeachment of the Ondo State House of Assembly principal officers was reversed, the House has passed the 2016 budget into law.

The House presided over by the Speaker, Jumoke Akindele, Wednesday passed the bill into law after the House Committee chairman on Finance and Appropriation, Mr. Ade Adeniyi submitted the report to the lawmakers.

A total sum of N118, 990, 000, 000.00 was budgetted for the 2016 fiscal year, with N68, 000, 000, 000.00 allocated for recurrent expenditure, while N50, 990, 000, 000.00 goes for capital project.

Adeniyi, after a thorough defence by the MDAs in the state, recommended that they should ensure that provisions of the budget were utilized for the needs stated therein.

“The Board of Internal Revenue should make vigorous efforts to block all identified leakages as much as possible,” he said.

Similarly, a bill to provide for an amendment to the Ondo State Anti-Kidnapping and Anti-Abduction Law 2010, as well as a bill to provide for the establishment, operations and functions of the Orange Fm Station scaled first reading in the House.
