There are indications that the lawmaker representing Ilaje State Constituency II in Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon Gbenga Edema has concluded plans to join the All Progressive Congress (APC).
The lawmaker who is said to have parted ways with the State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko met with the leadership of the party and had promised to announce his defection to the party any moment from now.
It would be recalled that during the last plenary session of the Assembly, it was only Edema that refused to sign the Letter of Intent that was signed by his colleagues to defect to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP ), after the declaration of the Governor, some couple of weeks ago.
The lawmaker reportedly refused to sign the Letter of Intent in the Assembly on the ground that he had not consulted his constituency on his proposed move.
A source close to the lawmaker explained that Edema was not interested in joining the PDP because of the various unresolved misunderstanding between him and the leadership of the party in Ilaje Local Government area of the state, coupled with the recent Cold War between him and the state governor.
The State Chairman of the APC, Mr Isaac Kelemeke said during a recent media briefing that some members of the House who do not want to follow Mimiko to the PDP, were already discussing with the party leadership to welcome them to the APC.
According to the source, the embattled lawmaker is interested in going to the APC in other to become the Minority Leader of the House which is one of the principal offices of the Assembly.
Having been informed about the purported move, another source in the Assembly said the House was waiting for the lawmaker to decide before taking any step against him.
All efforts to speak with the lawmaker proved abortive as his telephone lines were switched as at press time.
