Following the spate of kidnapping currently terrorising Ondo State, particularly the northern senatorial district area of the state, the state governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has met with security chiefs, as well as the leadership of Miyetti Allah over the menace.
At the meeting held at the Cocoa Conference Hall of the Governor’s office, Alagbaka, Akure, the governor charged the security chiefs and the leaders of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Rearers to synergise on ways of identifying the culprits and putting criminal activities to a stop.
While emphasizing that his administration was not going to allow the peaceful atmosphere of the state to be breached, Akeredolu stated that his administration would no longer give room for such.
Similarly, the Brigade Commander, 32 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General James Ataguba, said the leaders of the Miyetti Allah must call their members to order or face the consequences.
He said his men are joining forces with other security agencies in the state to end the ugly trend.
Also the Commissioner of Police, Mr Gbenga Adeyanju, represented by the Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, ACP Tijani, said the security agencies were battle ready to make the state uncomfortable for kidnappers.
Meanwhile, the State Chairman, Miyeti Allah, Alhaji Bello Mohammed, who promised to expose whoever is found wanting among his people, disclosed that he is no longer prepared to continue to bear the blames of unscrupulous persons among his members.
Earlier, the governor had also met with traditional rulers from across the state on the issue where he urged the monarchs to join hands with the state government and the security agencies towards curbing the ugly trend.
