The Ondo State House of Assembly has said it has concluded all arrangements for the interment of the late Speaker of the Assembly, Hon Samuel Adesina which it said will hold on Friday, 25 April, 2014.
Adesina, who represented Odigbo II State Constituency in the Assembly, died in February this year in a Lagos private hospital during a protracted illness suspected to be cancer.
Addressing journalists in the State Assembly yesterday on the burial plan for the deceased, the Chairman House Committee on Information and Orientation, Hon Oyebo Aladetan said the House had made proper plans to give the late Speaker a befitting State burial.
In a bid to make the occasion colourful, according to the Spokesman of the Assembly, various committees and sub-committees have been set up to organize the programme which kicks off today (Wednesday).
Aladetan explained that the programme for the burial would start with a Service of Song to be held at the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Arcade, Akure, the state capital.
He added that there would be Lying-in-State for the late speaker at the House of Assembly complex while and Valedictory Sitting in his honour will also hold tomorrow (Thursday).
Also tomorrow, according to the slated programme, the lawmaker said the remains of the deceased would move to Oniparaga, in Odigbo Local Government area of the state, his home town, in a motorcade, for a Christian Wake, while interment would hold on Friday after a church service.
Aladetan further explained that the burial programme would be carried out in line with the culture of the Yoruba people and in accordance with the tenets of Christian faith.
He noted that the former speaker would be celebrated because of his contributions to the peaceful co-existence of the people he represented and the state in general, as well as the monumental projects that were executed in the state during his tenure as the Speaker of the Assembly .
