Ondo governorship tussle: Abraham raises alarm over alleged threat to witnesses, petitions IG of pol

The runner up in the 2016 All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship primary in Ondo state has alleged that some youth are planning to attack his witnesses.

Abraham, in a statement issued to journalists in Akure, the Ondo state capital, on Friday, emphasized that the threat was as a result of his case at the Federal High Court in Abuja over what he described as the controversial 2016 governorship primary election of the APC, adding that the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris has been notified of the threat.

Recall that Abraham, who came second during the 2016 primary election, had accused the incumbent governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of manipulating the process, after which he dragged him to the Federal High Court in Abuja, where there is pending litigation as to the authentic winner of the primary.

In the statement, Abraham alleged that his witnesses are being threatened by those he described as sponsors of the state government.

“We are surprised that those of us, who ought to be in the same political party, are threatening each other over a case that will reshape the APC in Ondo State for good.

“But I have pleaded with my people to allow us embrace a system that will usher in a true democratic value to the people as we await the verdict of the court over the pending case.”

While urging all his supporters to eschew violence, Abraham also alleged that there were plots to harass and arrest his followers.
