The Association of Resident Doctors (ARDs), Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Owo, Ondo State have urged the Federal Ministry of Health to recall its interim administrator, Dr. Adediran Kolajo over alleged victimization of its members.
The union also urged the federal government to conduct a forensic auditing of the FMC, including projects before and during the tenure of Kolajo.
It said the new management has declared total war on the union and its over 100 members, adding that the outcome of the cold war was the last Tuesday burgle of the ARD lounge.
ARD alleged that those, who burgled the lounge, were acting on the instruction of the FMC boss, adding that all their equipment in the lounge was damaged.
Speaking at a press conference held at the FMC centre, ARD President, Dr. Isaiah Oke leveled 12 allegations against the management.
According to Oke, some of the allegations include “unjust relocation letter given to 17 Resident Doctors to exit the Center against national recognised residency training guidelines.
“Failure to settle all outstanding arrears which include: examination and update fees for ARD members, 2013 and 2014 promotion arrears, January 2015 relatively arrears and 20 percent of two months relativity arrears of 2014.
“Non-recognition of the ARD whereas due recognition was given to other unions. Use of foul and abusive languages on ARD members and which is again against Public service rules. Such words include bunch of vagabonds, bunch of nonentities, bunch of idiots, riffraff.
“Threat to retrieve the ARD lounge, which was brought to manifestation only on August 18, 2015 and witnessed by the entire members of the FMC Owo community. It is pertinent to note the crude and dictatorial manner with which the ARD lounge was ransacked and equipment damaged.
“Refusal to listen to distinguished Medical elders and other eminent Nigerians such as the Olowo of Owo Kingdom, and a former Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, among others during the advocacy stage of the crisis”.
“Refusal of members of the executive of ARD to attend a National meeting where the issue of 34 institutions who were on strike action was to be discussed.
Oke noted that rather than the management to respond to the allegations, 26 members of ARD were given administrative query.
He accused Kolajo of pushing for his removal before he could dialogue with the union, despite all efforts being made by the leaders in the FMC to settle the rancour.
The Doctors, who embarked on three days warning strike last week, however threatened to go on an indefinite strike if their demands were not meant.
But, when contacted on phone, Kolajo said he was in office, but he will be available to speak with our reporter tomorrow (today).
But, the FMC management had declared that all necessary administrative measures shall be taken to address indiscipline within the hospital.
It berated doctors under the aegies of ARD for porshowing that medical personnel of the hospital were on strike for alleged high handedness.
