The Governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, has disclosed that the world-class utra-modern Emergency Medical Centre built by his administration will soon be ready.
Mimiko disclosed this in a keynote address at the 53rd Annual Scientific Conference and Annual General Meeting of the Nigeria Society of Physiotherapy in Akure,the state capital.
He reiterated his administration’s determination to swiftly attend to accident emergency victims like it has never been done before in the country, stressing that road accident remains the biggest killer of Nigerian adult more than all other killer diseases combined.
He explained that the Abiye safe motherhood programme of his administration, aimed at providing quality maternal and child healthcare has continued to receive both national and international recognition and the result has been encouraging.
Mimiko, who dedicated the award to the people of Ondo State for their support and encouragement, said that the people in the last four years have been enjoying access to quality and free maternal healthcare.
He said: “it is only in our wards that you see the wife of billionaire lying next to the wife of messenger because of the quality service rendered at our Mother and Child Hospital, which is absolutely free of charge.”
The National President of the society, Mr Taiwo Oyewumi said Ondo State was selected for the conference because of the success recorded by the state Safe Motherhood Project ‘Abiye’ and the increasing number of TRAUMA Centres in Ondo State.
