The Ondo State Police Command has refuted media reports that its men, on Monday, protested non-payment of their allowance for the Saturday’s governorship election in the state.
Reports had it that some aggrieved men of the Nigeria Police Force, on Monday morning took to the streets of Ondo town to protest the non-payment of their last Saturday’s governorship election allowance.
According to the report, the irate policemen filed out at Fagun street in Ondo town singing various war songs.
They reportedly descended on journalists and residents who tried to take photographs of the protest.
But the Police Public Relations Officer of Ondo State, Femi Joseph, has dismissed the report, saying the officers were doing assessment of the Saturday’s election.
Joseph, who spoke with DAILY POST on phone said the chanting of war songs were out of the excitement of a successful outcome of the weekend’s election and not what was reported.
