Ondo election: Jimoh Ibrahim is PDP candidate – Sheriff insists

Factional National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff yesterday reaffirmed the candidacy of Barrister (Dr.) Jimoh Ibrahim (CFR), stressing that he remains the only authentic gubernatorial candidate of PDP for the November 26 2016 election.

Sheriff, who personally presented the PDP flag to Dr. Jimoh and his running mate, Barrister Ebenezer Alabi urged voters in the state to vote for the Jimoh/Alabi ticket for better administration and development of the state.

The national chairman stormed the flag-off campaign rally of the PDP candidate hosted at Government field, Ore town in Odigbo council area of the state in company of large retinue of his faction’s party leaders and national officers.

They include Senator Buruji Kashamu, Prof. Wale Oladipo, national secretary; Sen. Hope Uzodima, Chief Makanjuola Ogundipe, South-West vice chairman; Alhaji Gambo Lawal, Dr.(Mrs.) Mariam Ali, Barr. Ahmed Gulak, Sen Victor Oyofo, Sen. Musa Bello, Abiodun Aluko, Williams Ajayi and state chairmen of Ekiti, Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun and Benue states.

The two-term governor of Brono State said the emergence of the billionaire businessman, “during a primary process that met all the requirements of the party constitution of PDP”, was to correct the anomalies and disobedience to the party’s constitution and the unwritten rotational law which has been guiding the party and rescuing it from total collapse.

He urged the supporters of the party in the state to forge ahead and work for PDP to win the election, adding that Araba, has Dr. Jimoh Ibrahim is fondly called has come to stay as the party’s authentic candidate.

“Where Araba dey, Iroko no go talk; where Araba dey, Iroko must fall yakata,” Sheriff said in veiled reference to Governor Segun Mimko fondly called Iroko.

In his acceptance speech, Jimoh Ibrahim promised to correct all the wrongs of the previous administration in Ondo state, and pay off all the backlog of salaries, allowances and pensions within the first hundred days in office.

His words; “I will pay all back log of salaries currently being owed by the state and restore light to those areas that have being in darkness for so many years, within my first hundred days in office.

“I will create wealth and take your poverty away while the state shall take the first position in developmental stride during my administration.

“Also in my first hundred days at governor of this state, I promise to reintroduce the boarding system to hundred Government owned secondary schools across the state, to bring back lost glory and high education standards enjoyed by students in the past.

“The fully boarding system was what sharpened and built our educational and moral standards back then as students which had continued to be our guide and approach to life in business engagements and political participation.

“The person that will make me governor is God; how He is going to do it, only Him knows. What we’re fighting is injustice and not that we’re forcing ourselves on the people; but we’re preaching equal justice and fairness to all districts in the state where every area will be treated equally in wealth distribution and infrastructural development.”.

The Igbotako born businessman turned politician also promised to set up Infrastructural Development Commission and take people from poverty to prosperity.

He stressed that the abandoned Olokola Free Trade Zone project of late Dr. Olusegun Agagu will be resuscitated and highly developed to become the headquarter of the State Board of Internal Revenue where the deep seaport will second to Apapa seaport in Lagos in terms of revenue generation.

Jimoh Ibrahim vowed that the current Ministry of Special duties will be scrapped and replaced with the Ministry of Employment to create jobs to the youths in the state, both in the public and private sectors which will immediately revamp the drowning economic situation in the state.

Thousands of members of All Peoples Congress (APC) led by Hon. Ademola Ijabiyi and that of Accord Party led by the state chairman, Olusola Agbesua were received into the PDP fold by Sheriff with a promise to work for the party to will the election.
