Embattled factional governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ondo State, Eyitayo Jegede, has said he will not surrender his mandate to businessman, Jimoh Ibrahim.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had on Thursday replaced Jegede with businessman, Jimoh Ibrahim as the PDP’s governorship candidate  in the coming election election in the state.

Reacting to INEC’s decision, Jegede called for calm, stressing that he would explore all legal means to reassert his candidacy.

In a statement by his spokesperson, Fasua Kayode, Jegede said he had gone to the appeal court to upturn the decision.

The statement reads,“Jegede assured that he would not, for any reason, jettison the mandate freely given to him by the generality of PDP members in the state.

“He has not in any way abdicated the general consent given to him by the law-abiding members of the PDP to seek election into the office of the governor.”
