Ondo Election: I have no problem with Tinubu – Akeredolu

The All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate for this month’s governorship election in Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, on Monday declared that there was no rift between him and a national leader of the party, Bola Tinubu.

Recall that Tinubu had berated the party’s national chairman over his handling of the Ondo state primary election which saw the emergence of Akeredolu, a former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, as the party’s candidate in the November 26 poll.

The party had submitted Akeredolu’s name to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, despite its Appeal Panel recommendation of a cancellation and conduct of a fresh primary election,  a decision that irked the former Lagos State governor leading to his demand for the immediate resignation of the party’s National Chairman, John Oyegun.

But addressing reporters in Abuja, Akeredolu said Tinubu has accepted his candidacy and that everybody is “moving on”.

According to him, “l can always tell you, people who know me, they know that I talk most times with some confidence. Let me assure you here that by the grace of God, we will win the election in Ondo state.

“I don’t have any rift with him. Since the primary, you would see that he has not said anything about it. He has accepted the primary and we are moving on. So, I don’t have any rift with him at all and we are moving on.”
