The Alliance for Democracy, AD, has slammed the All Progressives Congress, APC, for saying it uses rented crowds at its rallies, saying the party was only jittery of its rising popurality.
The APC had last week accused the AD candidate, Dr. Olusola Oke, of renting a crowd at his rally.
Reacting, National Publicity Secretary of the AD, Ms Nola Olayinka, described the allegation as laughable and baseless.
In a statement on Wednesday in Abuja, Olayinka argued that AD rivals were intimidated by the support it is getting from electorates in the state ahead of the November 26 election.
She said the AD is a party that is rooted in the South-West and nationally as home for all progressive minded individuals who are seeking for change in governance.
Olayinka noted, “We are amazed at a statement reported in the media that our great party rented and paid the crowds that have been supporting us in Ondo State. This claim must be the figment of the imagination of our political rivals who are flabbergasted by the massive support and goodwill we enjoy in the state.
“We are however using this medium to call on all our supporters not to be deterred by the blackmail but to continue to work for the party through their door-to-door approach aimed at appealing to the grassroots to vote Dr Olusola Oke as the next governor.”
She expressed optimism that the AD would be victorious and that it would fulfill all its electoral promises to the good people of Ondo State.
