Ondo election: AD finally grants waiver to Oke to contest

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) has granted waiver to Chief Olusola Alex Oke to contest the November 26, 2016, governorship election in Ondo State as the party’s candidate.

The party had earlier rejected Oke following controversies within its ranks and files over his emergence.

On Thursday, AD national chairman, Chief Joseph Avazi, ‎at the end of the party’s NEC meeting held in Abuja, said the AD members have agreed principally to work in unity so as to emerge victorious at the polls.

“By this waiver, Olusola Alex Oke is hereby exempted from all encumbrances and protocols, and entitled to stand for election as a governorship candidate in Ondo State.

“That AD in general and NEC hereby move a vote of confidence in the leadership of Chief Joseph Avazi as national chairman of the Alliance for Democracy and Pa Akinfenwa Mojusola as the national leader of the AD.

“The NEC meeting was monitored by INEC officials, Mr. Ifaladu Saadu and Mrs. Bola Adewon,” the party said.
