Ondo election: AD candidate, Oke denies reported arrest by Army

The governorship candidate of the Alliance for Democracy, AD, in Ondo State, Chief Olusola Oke has denied reports of his arrest by the military.

Oke said that the news of his arrest was the championed by of his political detractors, particularly the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state, to tarnish his image.

News broke out on Friday the that the AD candidate was allegedly arrested in Okitipupa, Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State, by the men of the Nigerian Army over illegal possession of firearms.

Speaking through his media aide, Mr. Kolawole Olabisi, Oke said he was not arrested at any time by either the military or any other law enforcement agents.

He noted that he had since his declaration for the post of the governor, been moving round all parts of the state to solicit for support of the masses.

He said, “The PDP resolved to peddle the rumour of Oke’s arrest and use the social media to circulate it, as a result of the indefinite adjournment given by the Court of Appeal in Abuja.

“The PDP led by Governor Olusegun Mimiko is afraid of Olusola Oke, especially with the court decision which did not favour them, hence the baseless rumour.”
