Ondo doctors end strike

The Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN), Ondo State chapter, has suspended its four weeks strike and ordered its members to resume work tomorrow.

The union, whose members embarked on an industrial action two weeks to the end of the tenure of former Governor, Olusegun Mimiko, were being owed six months’ salaries.

According to them, they decided to end their strike following the commitment of the present administration led by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, to clear their salaries latest by the end of June 2017.

Akeredolu, immediately been sworn-in met with the doctors and the health workers and appealed to them to call off the strike.

Addressing reporters in Akure, the state capital, MDCAN Chairman, Dr. AdeniyI Aderoba observed that, “our members are going through the toughest of times as a result of unpaid accumulated salary arrears.

“That the suffering masses are at the receiving end of the withdrawal of services by our members.

“We hereby came to the conclusion that the al of services should be suspended effective from 8.00 a.m today.

“We took this decision, holding you in high esteem on your honour and with the assurances that we are fully committed to giving the state our best services”.
