Ondo APC moves to reconcile aggrieved members as Kekemeke, Akeredolu meet

The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ondo State has began moves to settle the lingering crisis in the party as the party’s state chairman, Isaac Kekemeke and its governorship candidate, Rotimi Akeredolu brokered a truce.

Kekemeke and some governorship aspirants in the party have been at logger head over his perceived endorsement of one of the aspirants, Dr. Segun Abraham.

Speaking with reporters at the residence of Kekemeke, Akeredolu said the party has resolved its differences and is now ready to move forward.

Akeredolu, who was in company of some party leaders, including the deputy chairman of the party, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, Hon. Sunday Abegunde and all local government chairmen of the party, said what transpired in the party after the primaries was purely a family affair.

He said, “This is a family affair, we have come to discuss issues about the forthcoming election”.

Akeredolu said irrespective of what anyone feels about the party primary, it is time to remain indivisible ahead of the coming election.

“You have heard several expressions about the primary election, and you know better that the election was free and fair

“If anyone believes it was marred with irregularities, he is free to say whatever he wants to say

“But one thing is certain that APC is decided on who is their candidate and all of us here, the party chairman and the local government chairmen have decided to move forward and plan for the election, so that the only viable alternative for this state which is APC will be the next governor of the state

“There had never been ill feelings between myself and the chairman, when you have primaries in any party, is bound to raise dust.

“There is bound to be different camps and different groups, but when the primary is over, the dust must settle and everyone must come to work together as one.

“For me, dust is settled, we have concluded primaries, we are marching ahead now for the election and you can be sure that APC will march towards this election as a united party,” Akeredolu assured.

The legal luminary also disclosed that the party will soon decide on the issue of running mate.

On his part, the party chairman, Kekemeke said Akeredolu remains that candidate of our party since his name has been submitted to the INEC by the national secretariat of the party.

The chairman said the party is forging and united as one big family.

He said himself and other officers of the party are committed to the victory of the party in the November 26 governorship election.

According to him, “I am privileged to have visit with me the governorship candidate of our party.

“Like you know APC national has submitted the name of Rotimi Akeredolu SAN as the candidate and INEC has published it.

“I’m a man of authority under authority, so he remains the flag barrier of our party and that is recognise by me.

“This is politics and in politics what is permanent is the interest and the interest in this regards is the APC

“Friends today, adversary tomorrow . You can be in the same camp today and be in different camp tomorrow but APC remains APC.

” We are forging ahead and like I said in our meetings two days ago, We members and officers of the party are committed to the victory of the party at all elections including the governorship election,” Kekemeke said.
