The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo state, has slammed the embattled Chairman of the party in the state, Isaac Kekemeke for calling on the National Chairman of the party, Odigie -John Oyegun to remove the acting Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin from office.
Kekemeke and others had in a petition to the national secretariat urged Oyegun to remove Adetimehin as the acting Chairman of the party in Ondo state.
But, the party in statement signed by its publicity Secretary, Omo’ba Abayomi Adesanya said Kekemeke and others who signed the petition have no right to call for the removal of the acting Chairman.
The party said those who signed the petition are known leaders of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) in the state.
The APC described the call for Adetimehin’s removal as laughable, embarrassing and shameful.
It alleged that Kekemeke has a track record of anti-party activities, stressing that the embattled Chairman worked against the APC in last year’s gubernatorial election.
” But we were not surprised, the leader of the AD members, Isaac Kekemeke has a track record of anti – party activities
“Under late Olusegun Agagu, Kekemeke stayed in PDP and worked with the Labour party against his boss and benefactor , Agagu of the PDP
” It is no longer secret that, while we were rounding off our campaign in Owo during the build up to last year gubernatorial election, our supposed chairman then, Kekemeke, was in his house, busy sharing AD money for members of the AD” APC said.
The party said it is ready to provide photographs and video evidence of how some leaders of the party campaigned openly against the APC in the last election.
The statement reads, “Our attention has been drawn to media reports Asking our National Chairman, Chief John Odigie- Oyegun to remove the acting Chairman of our party, Engr. Ade Adetimehin from office
” While we are not ready to join issues with these set of people who are known leaders of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) in Ondo state, we are constrained to set the record straight.
“Firstly, members of the public should have known by now that these characters are unstable beings who can not be taken seriously
“You will Remember that, the same set of people last week described the acting chairman’s letter of appointment as fake. Isn’t it funny that they have now turned around to blame the national secretariat of issuing the same letter they called fake? Well, they have now accepted the letter as authentic
“Secondly , those who signed the said letter to the national chairman are known leaders of the Alliance for Democracy who participated openly in the campaigns of the AD and its candidate, Olusola Oke
” We see their actions now, as laughable, embarrassing and shameful. We are bewildered as to how members of the Alliance for Democracy would asked our national chairman to remove our acting Chairman
“Toyin Ajinde, Gboyega Adedipe, Bobade Omolade, Lawrence Ogunmoyero and S. B Ogedengbe Who reportedly signed the petition campaigned on the podium with Oke side by side. We have photographs and videos footages where they campaigned for the AD and urged the people to reject us at the poll
“These people worked in their party – the AD, to scuttle the chances of our party – the APC. One would expect that since they came distant third in the election, they would stay and build their party
“We will like to urge them to be proud of their party, stay in the party and provide us with a viable opposition.
“Thirdly, we are left with no other option than to expose the actors of the AD who believed they can stay in the APC and weaken its chance
“Fourthly, we will like to state that we are magnanimous in victory, we are ready to accept our lost sheep. But, these people must accept responsibility and return to the party by officially decamping into the APC.
“We are happy with our new members, Jimmy Adekunle, Hon. Oyebo Akintan and host of others who hitherto left our party for the AD but are now back to the fold. Kekemeke, Borofice, Ilori and the rest should toe this path and officially come back into the party “.
The party, however, said it is more than determined to resist agents of the AD from coming into the party through the back door.
