A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Prince Orimisan Adelokiki has issued a 7-day ultimatum to the member, representing Irele /Okitipupa federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Mike Omogbehin over his statement on the administration of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
Omogbehin in an interview with a national daily had said Akeredolu was not prepared for governance.
He said “I want Our People in Ondo state to Pardon Akeredolu, he never knew he was going to win election in the first instance. Some forces came together to steal, first the APC Primary election
“They stole it, there are evidences to show, even on television that ghosts voted in the Primary election.
“He didn’t know he was going to win, So he had no clear cut agenda. And that is why 3 to 4 month after, he has no commissioner, he is not stable, and we cannot say today, just like we had in the early days of Buhari, that we have an Executive arm of government in Ondo state.
“No we don’t have. So he can be pardoned because he never knew. He was not prepared for Governance. And what can I say?
“It is a lesson for the People of Ondo state to vote only those who are prepared to provide leadership next time and not people who are bound together by Retrogressive Conspiracy. Akeredolu has captured power, but he is not ready for power. And that is the problem we are having today.”
Reacting, Adelokiki said Omogbehin had proven that he lacked the knowledge and experience of what governance entailed.
He noted that the lawmaker had shown his hatred for the people of the South senatorial district, particularly Okitipupa where he represents.
He said “with the Wewood project, worth over N20billion sited in Omotosho here in Okitipupa where Omogbehin hails from, isn’t it shameful that he can come out to say that Akeredolu was not prepared for governance?
“Every lover of good governance and lovers of the people, especially from Okitipupa should applaud what Governor Akeredolu has done within one hundred days in office
“Omogbehin’s party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) killed OSUSTECH; former governor Mimiko turned the institution into a ghost, and within one hundred days, Governor Akeredolu resuscitated the institution and it’s now the cynosure of all eyes
“It is even more worrisome, that Omogbehin refused to speak out when OSUSTECH, one of the legacies of late Olusegun Agagu, our leader in Okitipupa, was put in shambles by the PDP administration.
“It has clearly shown that Omogbehin doesn’t have the interest of our people at heart. He is ready to play politics with the lives and development of the people of Irele and Okitipupa,” Adelokiki said
The APC chieftain maintained that, rather, it was Omogbehin who was never prepared for the legislative assignment he had undertaken.
He accused the lawmakers of never winning any election in the area.
He said “In the first place, Omogbehin never won election. I was at home in Igbotako during his election, we are from the same Igbotako ward 2
“Omogbehin should tender his apologies for his careless statement and should henceforth behave like a parliamentarian.
“His statement to his state governor was too unparliamentry. If you listen to him, you will agree with me that Omogbehin is bereft of idea
“What are his responsibilities as a legislator? Ask him, how many bills has he presented on the floor of the House? My people in the constituency cannot wait till next two years to vote him out
“He is an unproductive and inactive lawmaker. He should be shamed of his party that ran Ondo state aground economically for eight years”, he stressed.
The APC chieftain noted that Governor Akeredolu should be commended over his agricultural revolutionary agenda, prompt payment of salary, infrastructural development, among others.
