Reno Omokri, the former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has reacted to the claim by the ruling All Progressives Congress that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, is not a Nigerian.
The APC had yesterday filed a motion at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja.
The Party, in the petition filed by its lead counsel, Lateef Fagbemi, faulted the candidacy of Atiku in the election, claiming that Atiku is a Cameroonian and not a Nigerian citizen.
APC, hence stated that the former Vice President petition against President Muhammadu Buhari, its own candidate, should be dismissed for lacking in merit.
But, reacting, Omokri on his Twitter page said APC claim is likely to cause Cameroon to approach international court and lay claim of Adamawa State.
The former presidential spokesman wrote: “Since President Buhari and APC are claiming that Adamawa people are Cameroonians, I will not be surprised if Cameroon goes to the International Court again to lay claim to Adamawa just as they laid claim to Bakassi and won before the CIJ on October 10, 2002.”
Meanwhile, Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate for the 2019 election, has dismissed the petition by the All Progressives Congress (APC) contesting his citizenship as “idiotic”.
The former vice-president, who spoke through his media aide, Paul Ibe, told Saturday Sun, that it is an insult to Nigerians and the office of Vice President which he occupied for eight years, for the APC to question his nationality.
